01 · OverviewWhat is Pons Apple Store

Every launch has the same picture: a glass shop lit from inside, a line of people down the pavement, sleeping bags, thermoses, somebody in a folding chair since four in the afternoon. Nobody has ever explained why we do this and nobody is going to stop.

So the cat opened a store. Same four products since the fourteenth century, no new colour, no new model. The line still goes round the block.

Format: A walk from the back of the queue to the counter, then the shop floor

Staff: One. He is at the door and he is not moving from it

Stock: Four items, all of them older than the building

02 · The queueTwelve ahead of you

Scrolling walks you up the line. The people ahead grow as you pass them, slide out of frame, and the counter in the corner drops by one each time. It starts at twelve and it ends at zero, which is the only progress bar on this site that means anything.

Depth: Twelve campers, each at its own distance, scaled and placed by hand each frame

The camp: Thermoses, sleeping mats, a folding chair, one tent, one kitten already asleep

Counter: Counts the ones still in front of you, not the ones behind

03 · The doorThe high five

At the front there is one employee in a teal shirt with a blank lanyard. He high fives every single person who walks in, including the ones who left the line at three in the morning and came back at six. He does it again as long as you stay on that part of the page.

Runs: On its own, on a loop, with nothing to click

Success rate: Every one. He has not missed

There is no configurator, no storage tier and no colour choice. The prices are not in any currency because none of these were bought in the first place.

05 · ControlsUsing the site

Scroll: Walks you up the queue and then through the door

The high five: Plays by itself while you are at the front. Stop scrolling and watch it

Sound: Quiet until you tap. Your first click anywhere starts a slow loop

The end: A pick up in store slip with the contract on it

06 · TokenToken

The token launches on Robinhood Chain through the Pons launchpad. The contract sits on the pickup slip at the end of the page and here. Until then both say soon and the copy button says not yet.
